ABOUT ME:

Me having some time away from the horses

Like most other kids, I wanted to ride, and in those days, we were allowed to help out at riding schools in exchange for riding. So from the age of 6, I was hooked on horses. About 7 years passed by and sadly I became allergic to horses and was forced to stop riding.

One day in my early thirties, I decided to see if I could actually be near horses without any allergic reaction. Hooray - success. Now I was hooked again, and within the first year of riding again, I had passed (with high results),  Levels 1, 2 & 3 of the British Horse Society Horse Owners Certificate and owned my first horse - Holly. I haven't looked back since. Now I have two lovely mares and three young Shetland geldings.

In October 2005, I started my freelance groom business part-time and in January 2006, I gave up full-time employment so I could work with horses all day. Since then, my days have been spent caring for my horses, those on livery with me and on client sites.

ABOUT WINNIE THE POOH: 

Winnie the Pooh is a 24 year old 15.2hh Thoroughbred Cross mare and I have had her since May 2004. Winnie hasn't done a great deal in her past but she is very affectionate, and willingly gives you kisses in exchange for sweets or carrots. Winnie is now retired from hacking due to her arthritis. She adores being around other horses and likes to round up her little herd. Being a mare, she has her stroppy moments. I give her a carrot when rugging her so she cannot bite me. Works wonders.

ABOUT BILLY B: 

Billy has been with me since June 2008. He is a very cheeky unregistered 10.2hh Shetland gelding. Billy is rising 5 but acts lots older. He loves humans and follows me around and helps me empty the wheelbarrow in his own special way! Billy stands for hours while you scratch around his withers, under his neck and his hind legs or just about anywhere. I may start showing in-hand at local shows so if you see us, come and say hello. He is absolutely brilliant in traffic and is so chilled out.

ABOUT MISTY: 

Misty joined my ever expanding herd in July 2009 as another hacking horse for me. She is an 19 year old 14.1hh registered Connemara who has jumped and done dressage in the past. She loves being scratched behind her ears and along her withers. Misty enjoys chasing the ponies and it is fun to watch them all racing around the field. It has taken her a few months to bond with me, but she is now much more trusting and this shows when we are out hacking as she hardly naps now.

ABOUT MR HUMPHRIES:

Mr Humphries (or Humfy for short),  joined my little family in June 2009. He is a rising 5 year old unregistered mini shetland gelding of 9hh. Humfy is the most affectionate pony who loves giving you kisses and being scratched around his head and neck. He happily follows you everywhere as he loves attention. He is up for loan along with Roger.

ABOUT ROGER:

Roger is half brother to Humfy and has been signed over to me and joined my family in November 2009. He is a rising 5 year old unregistered mini shetland gelding of approx 9hh. Roger is easily scared and isn't good in traffic - yet. He loves being scratched between his legs and lifts his leg so you can get to the correct spot. He follows Humfy everywhere and plays with Billy too. He is up for loan along with Humfy. Ideally I would like them to be together and used as driving ponies.
