    PRESS RELEASE BY:

A local horse rider has praised two Bracknell Forest Council officers for promoting access to the borough’s countryside.

Rights of Way ranger Hugh Fitzwilliams and former parks and countryside development officer James Dymond were given British Horse Society Riders’ Charter Awards.

The awards are given to people who have promoted access to the countryside for horse riders and carriage drivers.

They were nominated for the award by Mrs Sharon Holt - a local British Horse Society Access Officer, freelance groom and member of the Council’s Local Countryside Access Forum.

Sharon highlighted they were very helpful and praised the maintenance and resurfacing of the Binfield bridleway circuit, and the new bridleway which was developed with Syngenta in Warfield.

Sharon also praised work upgrading existing and proposing new bridleways across Bracknell Forest and their quick response to maintenance work needed.

James Dymond has since left Bracknell Forest Council and now is parks and open space development manager at Nottingham City Council.

Mrs Holt said: "I was pleased to nominate Hugh and James for this award for all their hard work to improve bridleways in Bracknell Forest.

"Making sure we have good rights of way means horse riders can enjoy Bracknell Forest to the full."

Cllr Iain McCracken, Executive Member for Leisure, Corporate Services and Public Protection, said: “We have some wonderful countryside here in Bracknell Forest and the help and advice of our local access forum helps us make sure residents can fully enjoy it.

“It is particularly pleasing when a forum member enters our officers for awards as it shows how our work is making a difference to the people who use them regularly.”
